I am Charlotte Blackwell and I teach fiddle, guitar, banjo, and mandolin. I have my own teaching method called the Blackwell Practical Music Method, and I have written my own lesson books for my students designed to easily take them from one technical level to the next in building block fashion. The program is a multi-leveled one consisting of the levels of Achievers, Diamonds in the Rough, Ozark Mountain Diamonds, and the One Hundred's Club. The logo for the program contains a drawing of a one room school house, a symbol of a very effective teaching style used in early American history upon which the structure of the BPMM program is based. My teaching method has been featured in Bluegrass Unlimited and the National Old Time Fiddler, as well as in interviews on radio and TV stations in Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, and Oklahoma. After all of these years the program is still going strong and the student band which is a part of the program has performed live for local TV and radio stations, at Silver Dollar City, as an opening band at The Grand Palace and The Showboat Branson Belle, (all at Branson, Mo.,)at the Ozark Empire Fair, and at music festivals, both locally as well as in three states. My husband and I pioneered fiddle camps in Missouri in the early 1980's and continued periodic workshops by nationally known bands for our students as a part of the teaching program. I have also co-taught at our fiddle camps and have judged fiddle, guitar, and banjo contests. Visit Our Bluegrass and Accoustic
