Phil Slowey beside the memorial board at Langley, Oklahoma.

We got the idea for this board from a friend in Oklahoma, Phil Slowey, who collected the names of the deceased fiddlers which were eventually added to a similar board housed in Langley, Oklahoma. See the next link on the Memorial Front Page to find out more information on Phil Slowey, and the original "World Series of Fiddling" fiddle contest to which he donated so much of his time, and his project to make sure the ordinary fiddler received recognition for his or her contribution to fiddle music in traditional American heritage.
As with the names Phil collected for his board, the fiddlers names seen in this section appear here because they have been submitted to us for the International Fiddler's Memorial Board. Phil Slowey has submitted the names he has collected over the years to be listed on this site and we encourage any others who have similar lists to do the same. You can contribute to the Fiddlers International Memorial Board on the web by submitting an individual fiddler to be listed here.

If you have a deceased friend or relative who played the fiddle and who you feel belongs here please send us the fiddler's name and state where he or she lived and played music and we will attempt to update this list with some regularity. Names are added in the order they are received and not in any particular order of "name recognition."

Also we do not have time to check to see if the fiddlers whose names you send in are actually deceased. If anyone of you see your name on this board, please notify us that you are indeed still alive and if we find that you were the fiddler the submitter had in mind we will remove your name. However, often there are two fiddlers in the same state with the same name, and this must also be verified before a name is removed.

This board is for you the people who play or appreciate fiddle music. We must count on you to make this board possible and are interested in suggestions on what you would like it to be.

SUBMIT THE NAME AND HOME STATE OF A DECEASED FIDDLER YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE ADDED TO THE FIDDLERS INTERNATIONAL MEMORIAL BOARD HERE.
